November is… (Fill in the Blank) Month

November 1, 2012

To fill in the blank, here are a few bizarre topics to celebrate:

  • Banana Pudding Lovers Month
  • Plum and Pomegranate Month
  • Historic Bridge Awareness Month
  • International Drum Month

Special weeks and days are set aside for celebration too.
World Kindness week is observed from the 12th – 18th,
Pumpkin Chunkin days are from the 2nd – 4th and best of all,
November 7th is International Tongue Twister Day!

One of our favorite topics for November is:

National Family Literacy Month
mom and toddler boy readingHere at the library, we take Literacy seriously. We believe that reading truly empowers a person and the earlier one gets introduced to reading, the better off that person is. We have a whole series of early literacy programs designed to help introduce your child to learning and reading at the earliest possible age.

We have storytimes available for children of all ages starting with Babytime for ages birth – 18 months. Toddler Time is for ages 18 months – 3 years old. Preschool storytime is for children 3-5 years old. Our  Sit-Stay-Read program is targeted towards children in grades K-4. The Hooray for Saturday storytimes and Bedtime stories, are for all ages from birth – adult.

For information on these storytimes and other library events, visit our events calendar.
